The Walter Tovell Loop Trail is one of the most scenic circuits in Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, winding through forest, past kettle lakes, and along the base of the dramatic Niagara Escarpment cliffs. Starting near the main parking area, this loop combines the Walter Tovell Loop Trail with parts of the Cliff-Top Side Trail, creating a well-rounded hike that shows off the park’s best features. The loop is about 4–5 km round trip, making it a rewarding half-day adventure for hikers of all levels.
The Walter Tovell Loop takes you along the base of limestone cliffs, through shady hardwood forests, and past tranquil kettle lakes formed by retreating glaciers. The route also connects to the lookout platform above the escarpment, where you’ll get sweeping views of the rolling countryside. This combination of rugged cliffs and open vistas makes it one of the most diverse trails in the park.
