First thing to do when preparing for your trip is to get a handle on what to expect weather-wise. This includes: temperature, precipitation type/amount, and the wind. Once you have a handle on what to expect you can start to strategize your layering system to stay warm and protect yourself from the elements.
Dressing in layers allows you to regulate your temperature more efficiently by shedding layers when warm and adding layers when cool. The layering system starts with your base layers (ie. fleece or wool long underwear), then moves outward to your mid-layers, which vary in thickness and numbers depending on the day &/or season, and then finally your outer layers, which include such layers as: breathable soft-shell jackets, thicker insulating jackets/pants, wind-breaker jackets, and your trusty waterproof (Gore-tex or equivalent) pants and jacket.
Then there's the footwear, gloves, hat, and lastly your special sunglasses. Prior to booking if you have dire questions, feel free to send us an email or give us a shout. After booking we will be in contact with you to provide more details regarding your trip.
Firstly, when checking the weather it is recommended to look at the big picture first and then look closer at the geographic area.
