HAPPY FATHER’S DAY ROAD TRIP
If you are located in the GTA, this road trip is doable in a day.
Depending on your budget we have included some free locations (other than paid parking) and some additional paid options.
There are so many incredible options in this area like hiking Old Baldy or checking out the many Wineries, Cider Houses, Orchards and Specialty Food options. You can find out more by checking out the https://www.applepietrail.ca/.
This trip is a Get N’ Wild favorite and we have done it many times.
It includes two great waterfalls, an optional canoe trip down the Beaver River with Free Spirit Tours Paddling Trip, views of Georgian Bay and ends at Blue Mountain Resort where you have plenty of dining options and some incredibly fun attractions like Blue Mountain Resort Zipline, or just ride the gondola up to the top of the mountain. THE TRIP – Make your way to Hoggs Falls, the first stop of the trip.
We recommend getting there earlier as the parking is limited and it fills up fast.
The hike is fairly flat, there is one short flight of stairs to navigate and takes approx 10min to hike along the river to the falls.
Hoggs Falls is not the largest but it is definitely picturesque and offers some great photo opportunities to help memorialize the trip.
There are additional trails to access if you want to explore the area a little more.

THE NEXT STOP – a short 10min drive to Eugenia Falls.
If you were underwhelmed with the height of Hoggs Falls than Eugenia Falls will more than make up for it. At close to 100ft it is the largest waterfall in the area and one of the largest in Ontario.
An easy 5 min walk from the parking lot to the falls where you will be standing at the very edge of the Beaver River cascading over the rocky Niagara Escarpment.
The best view of the falls is a quick 5min hike along the stone wall.
As you approach the falls from the parking lot follow the trail left, you will come to a point where the trail intersects with another trail and you will see the opening to see the falls.
There are plenty of spots and photo opportunities to take in the full beauty of the falls and the beautiful natural environment around it.

FROM EUGENIA FALLS
If you are going for a canoe trip with Free-Spirit Tours it is a 20min drive to their location.
If you are not doing the paddling trip it is approx 40min to Blue Mountain Resort.
There are a couple of lookouts along the way that have good views if the Beaver Valley and Georgian Bay and are great locations for a packed lunch break.
On hot days or even just to extend the drive, consider heading into Thornbury and down to Little River Beach Park.
There is a beach area and a pier to jump into the crystal blue waters of Georgian Bay.
Heading out of Thornbury to the Blue Mountains on HWY 26 you will cross a bridge that goes over a Fish Ladder, it is a quick stop if you like to watch the fish swimming upstream.
The Trip ends at Blue Mountain Resort where you are sure to find some exciting adventures or just enjoy a walk around the village to check out the many stores.
***It is strongly advised to book your adventures at Blue Mountain in advance as they do often sell out on weekends.
